Loady, the (mini) cargo-bike Velo De Ville's modular

Velo De Ville is a family-run German company that embraces custom manufacturing as its philosophy. Starting with the desired model, everything can be customized : engine, transmission, components, accessories, and frame color.

Among the company's most interesting proposals is Loady, an agile, lightweight, and modular electric cargo bike , designed to meet all the needs of urban cyclists . An excellent solution for those looking for an alternative to the car to carry out all their daily errands.

Agile and versatile, perfect for errands around town

Let's start by saying that the Loady, like all other Velo De Ville bikes, is designed, produced and assembled in Germany. Going into detail, it is a cargo bike with an aluminum frame based on a "long tail" design with 20" wheels . The long tail geometry includes a long and sturdy rear rack integrated into the frame which is the actual loading platform of the bike.

This choice is very interesting and has directly to do with the versatility of Loady. Unlike cargo bikes with a front platform, this model is much more agile and simple to use , also thanks to the 20" wheels, and it behaves practically like a normal city bike. This aspect is very important because it makes it usable by anyone, not just those who are particularly expert riders . Also noteworthy is the front suspension fork , for greater comfort even on cobblestones or city streets.

Despite its small size (the overall length is similar to that of a standard bike), the rear rack can carry anything: two children , a week's worth of groceries, or even the essentials for a trip lasting a few days. The Loady's compactness is also important for another reason that often dissuades people from purchasing a cargo bike for city travel. Traditional models can't be brought indoors and therefore need to be tied to a trailer or parked in a garage. The Loady, on the other hand, has the great advantage of being easily transportable around an apartment , in a car, or even in an elevator (guests permitting).

Configurable (and modular) in every detail

As mentioned at the beginning, every aspect of this small cargo bike can be customized directly on the company website. There are three motor options , all supplied by Bosch. They range from the basic 75 Nm Performance Line , to the 90 Nm Performance Line PX, up to the most powerful Performance Line CX, with a massive 100 Nm of maximum torque. Three batteries are also available, ranging from 400 to 800 Wh in capacity.

You can also choose from a wide range of roof racks designed specifically for this model, making it a truly versatile cargo carrier. There's a rack for carrying two children, one for a single child, and a universal rack for carrying groceries or any other items you want to carry. The cargo options also extend to the front, with four racks of varying sizes to suit your needs.

But the customization options are truly endless. In addition to the color, you can choose from the lights, the handlebars , the tires, and the type of seatpost. Finally, there are also several drivetrain options , which, however, are always hub gears . An excellent choice for a city cargo bike, because it minimizes maintenance and the risk of technical problems. In this case, the range extends from the Shimano Nexus 5-speed to the Enviolo Heavy Duty belt-drive.

Further details and prices

Another very important aspect that we haven't mentioned so far is that the Loady comes in one size, adjustable via the handlebar stem and seat post . This choice ensures that, with simple adjustments, it can be used by the whole family, without restrictions. The Loady has a base price of €3.999 , which then increases depending on the desired configuration.
